AIMS... here we come

Its been a while since you have heard from us. Sooooooooorrrryyyyy!!!! So whats been happening? The AIMS nominations were unveiled... and we got 2!!! To put that in perspective the 'Ulster' has only had 1 in the last ten years!! Huge congrats to Heather and Victor (and fingers crossed for them for the big night at the Awards Ceremony!!) Last Friday we had a Calamity Jane get together which went with a bang... Special Thanks to the Professor for hosting the 'After Show' event. We hope his house was left in good condition... Speaking of the Professor... congrats are in order!!! He is playing the part of 'Ali Hakim' in Bangor Operatic Society's production of 'Oklahoma!' The Professor reckons it was his story telling in the Pub rather than his audition that landed him the part!!! We think he went for that role so that he didn't have to dance!! Also that night the BIG announcements regarding the future of the Ulster happened... So here is the plan: This Year.... Summer Show We are staging Little Shop of Horrors in Stranmillis College Theatre at the end of August. We have already had a pre-audition reheaarsal and we were absolutely delighted with the turnout. It was great to see some new people along too. Auditions are being held on Sunday in The Mount at 6.30 pm. All welcome! It is going to be a great fun show!! Next up is Panto. This year we are staging Aladdin. Going by our past 2 Panto's it will be great craic!! Next Year (2007) .... We are hoping to perform a series of Spring Concerts in Stranmillis College Theatre. This will not be your normal stand up and sing type of concert but will have lots of dance and lots of scope for people to perform their favourite musical numbers. Watch this space for more details! After that we are staging 'Fame - The Musical' in Stranmillis College Theatre in the Autumn. This will be quickly followed by our Xmas Pantomime... if we have any energy left!!!! The Following Year (2008) .... We are going for the 'BIG ONE'! We are going to the Grand Opera House, Belfast with 'West Side Story'. This will be a huge challenge but we believe that with the vibrant Company we now have and our strong Committee in the background we will be able to pull it off. We will once again be availing of the huge talents of Peter Kennedy and Wilson Shields as our Director/Choreographer and Musical Director. And Panto to follow??? If we can still stand up at that stage!!!! A lot of work indeed!!! But we will always have time for play and throughout it all we will be holding a series of social events. These have been great fun in the past and it is great to see members of the Committee coming up with new and innovative ways to be Social!!! We will keep you posted on this but we think you will all enjoy what we have planned!!! In the meantime it is back to getting on with organising a Show! The usual stuff will need to be sorted... set, costumes, sound, lights, advertising, programme, rehearsal schedule et al. A lot of work... but sure we love it! And so... the big event is coming up! The AIMS weekend. It is the 'Oscars' of Am-Dram in Killarney from 16th to 17th June. The Writing Team will be flying the flag for the 'Ulster' and is great that Victor is making the trip too. Unfortunately Heather had a prior engagement and cannot make it. She was soooo looking forward to going. Olive will be on hand too as she is on the AIMS Committee. They do a fantastic job all year round! It should be a great weekend!!! We will give you all the biz in our next post... if we can remember anything!!! AIMS weekends tend to be a bit mad and leave you with a hazy feeling afterwards!!!! Best Regards The Writing Team PS... We are still getting lots of hits on the diary (over 1000 per month) but the comments have dried up. Rach tried her best to get comments going again but very few replied. So come on... get the craic going again. PPS... Did you know that Manfred is in town? He is a friend of Alf!! Bet you can't guess who though!!!!

Come on DEUTSCHLAND!!!!

Freundliche Gruesse von
Manfred

Hi Manfred buon a qui da voi ancora!!

È Frrancesco qui. o Frankie a voi! Il vostro cugino italiano.

Come siete stati?

Ronni!

Hey Guys! Como é você!
Luis aqui!!
O tempo longo nenhum vê!!! Sim... Aladdin soa bom a mim.

My goodness Manfred!
We did not realise you had so many talented friends and family!!
They all seem to be quite busy this Summer!!
Can anyone shed any light on what they have said or what their involvement is over the Summer??
Answers please!!!!

This is a bit of a World Cup game!!

Get these right and we will come up with a harder challenge to keep you amused!!!
