The Professor Tries Again!

Monday Committee Meeting Another very productive committee meeting was held. We discussed all the usual business… set, costumes, sound/lights, advertisement and publicity. These are all coming along nicely! The publishing team brought along the flyers and posters that they had designed and printed. Everyone thought they looked great especially Olive! Gareth had been busy doing test prints of the tickets… these are going to be full colour too!! We reckon that is a first! But there is still much work to be done. The publishing team have already started creating the programme and want to get this finalised before the end of the month to ensure sufficient time for printing. Again, the programme will be full colour throughout and will follow the ‘Western’ theme that was used for the flyers/posters. Selling this Show is a huge priority and a detailed list of potential advertising avenues was drawn up and actions will be allocated at the next meeting. We ask all the Cast to do their bit in selling tickets as well. We have great prizes to be won for those who sell the most! Tuesday Word was received from the Professor that one of his experiments had gone badly wrong. Apparently he was test driving an unfamiliar mode of transport (a bicycle) and managed to become a crash test dummy. Over the handlebars and onto the road. Reports from Casualty confirmed that numerous cuts and bruises in addition to cracked teeth were suffered. The Writing Team think that the Professor is taking it a bit far in trying to get out the various lifts in the Show! Thursday No rehearsals with Peter this week but a music rehearsal with Wilson. Wilson started off with Principals… Calamity and Katie, then Danny Gilmartin and finally Adelaide Adams. All sounded great! Chorus were called for 9 but they are so keen that they started arriving around 8.30 pm. We started off with singing through ‘Windy City’ and ‘Deadwood Stage’. We then moved on to ‘Careless with the Truth’. ‘Black Hills of Dakota’ was suggested but Wilson didn’t fancy it at all! Then it was onto the Dancing… Ditanya was otherwise engaged so Helen Smyth took charge. Helen does not like shouting so the PM offered to do that for her while she went over the dance steps. A great job she did too!! We danced through ‘Deadwood Stage’ and ‘Windy City’. The tap in ‘Windy City’ is coming on really well… at least for the girls. Sorry guys… more practice needed! In the absence of the Professor, Andy decided that he would do one of the lifts in ‘Windy City’. He chose Ande Gray as his partner… unfortunately Ande did not know this was going to happen until he was 6 feet up in the air in a spreadeagled position. We think Ande was more concerned about this hair being wrecked than anything else! Speaking of Ande’s hair… it was not quite as bushy as usual. This was due to lack of product being applied! He also informed the Writing Team that he is going for a trim very soon! We finished up around 10.15 and the usual team went across the road to the Pub. Topics of discussion included… How big is it??? No we are not talking about Wee Matt again but rather the ‘For Sale’ sign on our rehearsal premises. The sign stated that 0.16 acres was for sale so discussion took place as to the size of this piece of real estate. The Panto DVD night was talked about with who was going and who wasn’t. We shall bring you all the highlights of this in our next entry! Colours, Dreams and Star Signs… Andy was asking about whether painting his bedroom ‘chocolate’ had any deeper significance and talk then ensued about getting your colour chart done. Andy has already had this… and guess what? Pink is one of his colours!! Dreams were talked about next and whether these too hold any deeper meaning. All we can say is that hospitals were mentioned! Star signs up next with the PM asking Andy how he was so good at DIY since he is a Sagittarian. Sags are usually quite clumsy and not good at DIY at all. Andy replied that he was not that great at DIY at all. He tried a little bit of re-wiring while decorating his bedroom. The upshot is that if you turn on the light in his bedroom then none of the other lights work upstairs! Just beware when you visit the facilities during the Panto DVD night. You may be left in total darkness so make sure your aim is true… or else bring a torch! Paddy’s phone bill… Paddy and Wee Matt are off to Prague for a romantic few days next week. The boys are looking forward to sampling all the delights on offer. The beer is supposed to be great and very cheap too. Wee Matt is especially looking forward to meeting some of the locals. Apparently he is going to approach some of them and say.. ‘I want you and you and also bring along your big mate’! We are not quite sure what Matt is alluding too but we understand this will all be said in German a la his New York trip with Paddy and Ande. The Writing Team think that Paddy’s phone bill will be astronomical with all the texts and calls flying back to Bangor. He has been assured though that Karen will be in safe hands when he is away! By whom we wonder?? Andy has volunteered and no doubt Peter will offer his services! Paddy has an early start after the DVD night as he has to be at the airport for 6.45 am the next morning. But sure… he will be still up partying at that point! At least we are sure Wendy will be so she can ensure that Paddy gets away safely and on time. Andy’s Dublin trip… Andy decided to give the Fun Bus a trial run by going to Dublin to see the rugby last weekend. The match had an early kick-off so the drink was in early. Much drink was taken during the day… so much that his travelling companion was in bed by 7 pm fast asleep! Sounds quite familiar to those who were on the last Waterford outing! Aren’t old slippers great! The Writing Team observed Wee Matt and Wendy getting on famously. No doubt Matt was trying out some of his chat up lines prior to Prague! Wee Matt may be wee but Wendy is wee’er still. That is.. when she takes her heels off! We think they are a lovely pair! So that is all the craic for this week… Next week we will have all the details of the DVD night and also rehearsals with Peter on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hi folks. Sorry I’ve been away for while, but I’ve been doing some really top secret stuff which kept me off the inter web for a while – couldn’t let the bad guys track me down!!

However, it is with a very heavy heart I must write, although I do feel it is my public duty to do so!
Please take two minutes to digest this information! For it is some very BAD BAD news I must share with you this evening.

You see our old friend Alfie has been up to his old tricks again!! You may have noticed he took off on a little jaunt around Europe. He was great at letting you know where he had gotten too, but alas he didn’t give you any of the reasons why he made such a quick run for it!!
Unfortunately many of these reasons must remain confidential so as not to compromise my many informants and reliable sources!!

Upon noticing Alfie’s hasty departure from our shores, I undertook to follow him and keep an eye on just what he was up to!! I have to admit, he moves fast although it has done wonders for my air miles total!!

Finding him in France was easy, he always has an eye for the tourist attractions!! After a quick visit to the Eiffel Tower and L’Arc De Triomphe turned up nothing, I thought he may have given me the slip! Undeterred I took a walk down the Champs Elysees and guess what, there he was, in his hire car, driving on the wrong side of the road – there was traffic chaos!!

Now wanted by the French authorities for various traffic and public order offences, he broke for the German border and ended up in Berlin – A beer festival in Berlin to be exact. As he mentioned in his post - people kept looking at him funny?? They tend to do that when you’re on your sixteenth pint of the local brew and hurling beer steins the length of the main street yelling “unten gleben gloten glieben, ich bin ein bratwurst”

To be continued.............................................
Friday, February 10th 2006 @ 11:12 PM

Posted by Head of Security (Part 2):

The situation would have remained a lot calmer had one of the aforementioned beer steins not scored a direct hit on the forehead of the town’s local mayor who was leaving the function to go home!!

Now German policemen are notoriously a frightening looking bunch at the best of times, but when you’ve just knocked out the local dignitary with a drop kick Jonny Wilkinson would have been proud of, you need to be able to come up with a good story real real quick!! OR make sure you can run, very very very very fast!!

Alfie went for option number 2!! All hell broke lose on the streets of Berlin as the local Gestapo did their best to track him down. But whether it was a fate (I think it was more like a very fast Mercedes) or good luck, he made it out and didn’t look back until he reached Madrid.

Now a fugitive in two major European countries, Interpol stepped in to try and bring him down.
He must have got a tip off in Madrid, because he didn’t hang around and obviously decided it was time he headed East.

For days they pursued him, but he always managed to stay one step ahead, using the various passports he’s acquired over the years. Such a route he travelled to try and disappear – Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria. Planes, trains and automobiles – It was like something you’d see in the movies!!

to be continued..................................

And so brings us to where I write now from an internet café in Turkey to bring you this sad tale!! You see, little more than an hour ago, I got a phone call from a very distressed Alfie.
He knew I was after him, but in a foreign country when your luck is running out, some people will go to desperate measures to look after themselves. This was his cry for help!! His story goes like this -

After an incident free evening in a Turkish bar, Alfie was heading back to the guest house he was staying in and was approached by two fairly vagrant looking locals who offered to swop him a chicken for some lose change!! Alfie agreed and handed over his pocket change, then headed on down the street, complete with his newly acquired chicken!
Unfortunately, this was the precisely 52 seconds before Interpol caught up with him!!
A stranger in a strange land, looking even stranger with a chicken under his arm!! He was immediately arrested and the chicken confiscated.

To cut a very long story short, Alf was caught with a chicken which was riddled with the bird flu virus (apparently the lemsip and lockets in his pocket didn’t help his case either).
Having racked up over 5000 miles in less than a fortnight throughout Europe, Alfie has now been fingered as the leader of a group of activists intent on spreading the bird flu virus throughout Europe and now awaits his destiny in a crowded Turkish jail cell, at the mercy of the local justice system and being cared for by the local Gestapo!!

The sad news folks is that he may be there for some considerable time, shut off from the outside world and unable to make contact with anyone!!
Please spare a thought for him this weekend and in the coming days. He is in a very scary predicament, and I know he is gutted that it came to this!! He asked that I tell you all he so, so wanted to get to see you all this weekend but things have not turned out the way he planned!!

However do not be drawn in, these may be crocodile tears! Next time you have a sniff or a cough - just think - What If????

I have to stay in Turkey for a while, so I will do my best to keep you all up to date with details on the plight of our friend!!

Regards

The PM would like to say that he is deeply concerned by this turn of events.

A protest has been lodged with the Turkish government in relation to holding a British citizen without trial. The PM is also seeking to approach the European Court of Human Rights to see if they can also apply pressure. But until Turkey are part of the EU it is going to be a very difficult task.

The PM and the Cabinet can assure Alf and his family that they are doing everything possible to bring this matter to a swift conclusion.

Anyone who has seen the film 'Midnight Express' will understand our deep concern at this time.

The PM

The Embassy here in Istanbul has received instruction from the PM to give this matter regarding Alfred the utmost urgency.

Currently we are having morning coffee, next is lunch and that is followed by afternoon tea. We might have a spare half hour after that to try and contact the Turkish government. The PM would like us to be able to gain access to the jail to meet with Alf But I am not that keen myself as it is a dirty, filthy place.

Maybe I could persuade The Writing Team to fly out and see if they can get an exclusive interview with Alf.

This is an outrage,

I am disappointed that Alf will not be revealing himself as promised to Rachael for her Birthday Treat, well one of them :-)

I recommend that we start a "FREE ALF" campaign, it worked in Coronation Street for Deidre it can work for Alf.

We all know he is not a terrorist, Pain in the ass maybe but not a terrorist.

So who’s with me!!

"What do we want?"

"Free Alf"

"When do we want it?"

"Tonight would be great but if not, soon damn it"

I am horrified by these latest revelations.

Yes please, Writing Team, fly out and insure that my wee son is well and unharmed.

You all know the conditions in those kinda places are terrible. I will pack you a wee hamper to take with you.

Please all, say lots of prayers every night before you go to bed.

And perhaps Marks idea will help too.

Well,

wasn't that fun, I am bruised everywhere, I don't know if it from all my falls doing lifts with Tori (sorry babes) or the fact that I received numerous punishment beatings on Sunday by a trio of evil women!! You know who you are. RSPCC will be contacted.
A mad evening had by all, I think...
Hope your house is ok Andy another craicing party, The Bar is raised once again.
Interesting comment about the bacon Rach or bacon Fries as Andy referred to them as, were u trying to break my teeth again, the strangest fry I have ever had, Everything was Black, this might have something to do with Andy trying to match it with his drink, Guinness.

I would love to have highlights of the evening but I have no recollection of the evening after 10.00pm or so.

Anyway I hope you all had fun and are still speaking to me, as I cant apologise for anything as I cant remember doing it in the first place...

Shannon....

Things that will forever stick in my mind due to Shannon, all the following contain stories or simple stupidity,

Horses aka "Full moon", Flux Capacitors, Resevoir Dogs, Comfortable Slippers, Magpies, Smirnoff, 30 sec curtain call, Tim man, Guinness, Cowboys, Tequilla, Obscure Questions, Cigarettes, Chicken Legs, "it shut behind me" "no more chorus" Funny money, bank machines, Cheese and Mustard, Photos, Drunk me v Quiet me, 275 miles, funky tunes, Taxies, Skimpy chorus costumes, Annette, Big Blue TaTa's....

Im sure that there is a lot more but due to the amnesia they may be lost forever,

Thank you to all who took part, I hope you all had as good a time as myself,
See you next Monday, after a whole week of horrific flashbacks

Over and Passed Out,

Mark

Hi guys

Just a quick reminder about Fortwilliam's "Hello, Dolly!"

It opens tomorrow night (Tues) and runs to Saturday. The evening shows start at 19:45, and the Saturday matinee starts at 14:00.

The line-up includes Drew, Amy, Alex, Becki & me.

The show also boasts the 2nd best dancing chorus in Ireland!

It's much closer than Shannon - so you don't have to spend all day getting there!

I'm not sure if there are many tickets left - so please contact the Waterfront Box Office (9033 4455) ASAP.

See you in the bar afterwards (bring your Fake ID!)

Dear Writing Team

While pre-empting the fact that you will probably feel it necessary to write about the antics of the recent trip to Shannon - please be observant of the following!!

Due to the sensitive nature of some of my work, I would be grateful if you could keep in mind that I qualify for diplomatic immunity whilst in a different country and the official secrets act dictates that no mention may be made to people, persons or events which could compromise my safety, security and character!!

I would further like to state however that these rules DO NOT apply to Professor Higgins.

I (and my legal representatives) await your thesis!!

Regards

Head Of Security
